Reef-Farm is a newly established company and the only one commercially farming marine ornamental products in Vanuatu. Several years experience in the trade, together with 10 years presence in the country, has been used to develop methods and practices which are sustainable, environmentally sensitive and socially responsible.

We have grasped the opportunity to build on an already impressive and enviable position to remain "streets (or reefs!) ahead of the competition!"

Our aim was to develop methods for a coral farm that could be operated by local communities. They were instructed on propagating fast-growing corals on the sea bottom, and in raising those juvenile corals to a marketable size. Since the coral farming techniques are easy to learn and use natural resources, they have become part of coastal development projects as well as providing an exportable resource.




To offer not only the best products, but also the best service to our customers, production is geared towards consumer demand. Using sustainable production techniques requires more time and effort than traditional, more destructive methods. Therefore, by working closer with our clients and the end use consumers, we have been able to tailor production to meet demand. In addition, as new products become desirable, we will be able to change our production accordingly, and stay in touch with new trends…that means less wastage at all stages from reef to aquarium.

We recognise that, in order to survive and prosper, we must continually improve the range and quality of our products. To achieve this we listen to consumers and are consumer-driven. We are actively involved in promoting good reef health by lobbying work through the Government of Vanuatu. Some of the cultured products (corals and clams in particular) are used to restock reefs that have been damaged by both natural causes and inadvertent use by local communities.
